Maya Horgan Famodu is the Founder & MD of Ingressive Capital, a venture fund investing in early-stage startups across Africa. She has backed some of the continent’s fastest-growing companies, including Paystack (acquired by Stripe for $200M+), and Carry1st (funded by Andreessen Horowitz, Sony & Google), and Fund I has realized four acquisitions.
Ingressive Capital is disciplined in early stage, with 60% of Fund I entry valuation at or below $5M, and 50% of portfolio becoming Y Combinator alumn. The firm’s impact has led to ~40% female cofounders, and 100% of companies having indigenous equity owners.
Beyond venture, she co-founded Ingressive for Good, a nonprofit that has trained hundreds of thousands in technical skills, and Ingressive Advisory, that has facilitated 60+ deals and helped 50+ international companies enter Africa.
Maya was the youngest to launch a VC fund in Africa, and the first sole woman to launch a tech VC in Nigeria.
