Ingressive Capital seeded some of Africa’s fastest-growing businesses, including  Paystack (sold for $200M+ to Stripe); Mono (Series A led by Tiger and Y Combinator alum); Carry1st (Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, Google, Riot Games & AET).  40% of the portfolio is female-founded and 50% are Y Combinator alumni.

Biography

Sharaf Hamid is an investor specialised in delivering superior returns on capital in some of the most challenging operating markets in the world. Currently focused on North Africa, he believes in mission-driven companies and a talent-first approach to building them. His experience spans a broad spectrum of companies—technology & traditional, high growth & mature, private & public—as well as numerous sectors of the economy.

Prior to Ingressive he was a founding partner at micro venture firm Jeel Capital, an early-stage venture capitalist at Algebra Ventures, and a fundamental analyst at long-only fund Concord Investment Group. He is formally trained as an economist in Cairo and won a Chevening Scholarship to University of Cambridge where he read for a Master in Finance. He is a full-stack software engineer, writing code in his free time, and maintains a personal blog at altmasr.com
